The elusive Shipton Spire, situated just three miles across the Trango Glacier and perched above the confluence of the North and South Hainabroq Glaciers, stands as a formidable testament to the raw beauty and challenge of the Karakoram Mountains. Rising majestically out of the massive glacial junction, its towering walls exude an aura of both stunning grandeur and fierce determination.
For climbers from around the world, the allure of these rock towers is irresistible. Despite the challenges they present, the superb quality of the rock beckons adventurers to test their skills on its formidable slopes. The climbing is undeniably hard, but the rewards are equally unparalleled.
One of the major routes up Shipton Spire is a 29-pitch, 4,400 ft. big-wall ascent, with pitches rated at 6c, 7b, and 7b+. This technical climb offers climbers the ultimate challenge, pushing them to their limits as they navigate the rugged terrain and sheer rock faces of this Karakoram granite tower.
As climbers ascend pitch by pitch, they are immersed in the sheer beauty and grandeur of their surroundings, with breathtaking views of the surrounding glaciers and peaks serving as a constant reminder of the awe-inspiring majesty of the Karakoram Range. Itineraries
Day 1
Islamabad
Arrive Islamabad. Transfer to hotel. Official briefing.
Overnight hotel.
Day 2
Skardu/Chilas
Fly to Skardu. (Flight is subject to weather). Upon arrival transfer to hotel for overnight.In case of cancellation of flight (10-12 hrs) drive by coach to Chilas (480 km) on Karakoram Highway. Overnight hotel.
Day 3
Chilas/Skardu
Day free at Skardu
If your are driving, complete road journey (07-08 hrs) to Skardu (275 km) En-route has good view of Nanga Parbat (8125m) at junction of Indus River and the rapids and fall of Indus River. Overnight hotel.
Day 4
Askole (3000m)
By jeeps drive to Askole (8-9 hrs). The last village of about 50 houses. The villagers grow their own cereals, vegetables and fruits and own large herds of sheep, goats, yaks and dzos.
Overnight camp.
Day 5
Jhola (3200m)
Start 2-3 hours, walk below the Biafo Glacier, a tortured Ocean of moving boulders and crevasses 2-km wide and continue to Jhola (4-5 hrs). Cross-Dumardo River Bridge and camp at campsite surrounded by a few bushes with a side stream.
Overnight camp.
Day 6
Paiyu (3600m)
Start on a relatively easy trail for 3-4 hrs. Crossing Bardumal campsites along a 2-km stretch of sandy River beach. After a lunch break continue towards Paiyu camp for another 2-3 hrs from where we enjoy magnificent Panorama of Cathedral Towers and triangle of K2 to the left for the first time.

Day 7
Trek back to Rupal Village Overnight camp.
6-8 hours slightly easy walk, with spectacular views and gigantic mountain panorama, including Gasherbrum IV and Mitre Peak. Overnight at tent.
Day 8-37
30 days for acclimatization and climbing.
Day 38
Paiyu (3600m)
Trek back to Paiyu. Overnight camp.
Day 39
Jhola (3200m)
Drive to Hunza. Afternoon free for leisure. Overnight hotel.
Day 40
Trek to Askole. Overnight camp.
Day 41
By jeep drive to Skardu. Overnight hotel.
Day 42
Islamabad/Chilas
Fly to Islamabad. (Subject to weather). Upon arrival transfer to hotel.
In case of flight cancellation drive to Chilas. Overnight hotel.
Day 43
Islamabad
Leisure day at Islamabad.
In case of driving, complete road journey from Chilas to Islamabad. Overnight hotel.
